In January 2025, our restaurant’s collaboration with the luxury German kitchen appliance brand Gaggenau continues.
The Gaggenau Tuesday Test Kitchen will now be a weekly test kitchen series offering innovative off menu dishes designed and delivered by chef Sid Sahrawat and his team.
The new format, will be an 8 for $80 tasting menu.
Over the course of the evening, diners get to see Sahrawat and his team cook, plate, and introduce each dish in an intimate environment designed to encourage interaction, both with the chefs and other diners.
DINNER WITH CHEF BEN SHEWRY, Uses for Obsession- A Chef's Memoir Book Tour
The French Café hosts Chef Ben Shewry of Attica in Melbourne, for one night only.
Ben’s new book, Uses for Obsession: A Chef’s Memoir, is now on sale, and Ben is in New Zealand to promote it personally.
The book is described as “an intimate, searing, and hopeful memoir-meets-manifesto, redefining our views on restaurants, cooking, hospitality, leadership, and humanity from one of the world’s most respected chefs.”
Ben will not only discuss his memoir but also cook a three-course menu with snacks at The French Café. Tickets include wine or a non-alcoholic beverage pairing and a signed copy of Uses for Obsession: A Chef’s Memoir. $210 per person.

The French Café KITCHEN
This is our unique private dining space with an open kitchen, where our chef can cook for an intimate dining experience for 12-32 guests.
This is the ultimate chef’s table experience using the freshest of ingredients from our flourishing edible garden in our beautiful courtyard.
The French Café is an ideal space for large groups such as weddings and other private events.

THE CELLAR @ THE FRENCH Café
Our Cellar is an intimate private dining space that feels warm and personable. Separate to the main restaurant, it is a bespoke room crafted to showcase our selection of wines. It is perfect for hosting special occasions, both personal and corporate.
Our Cellar can accommodate from 6 to 12 guests. The table can choose either the 4-Course or 6-Course Tasting menu. We have an extensive wine list which showcases wines from France and New Zealand. Pairing wines to complement your menu can be selected by our Sommelier on request.
